France Televisions: Visitors from Europe

On Thursday evening, Elias received a request via email, whether he would be willing to put the interview on Saturday a French TV crew. Friday went by quickly, and on Saturday morning, the three visitors arrived by boat from here.

Elias answered questions about his motives in the Yukon to come, how it came about that he in Green Creek took root and why it now for 30 years living here. The interview was conducted in French. While Elias talked about his philosophy of life, I gave up trying to follow the conversation and the conversation became a gently rolling noise for me. French is a very melodic language, if only I would understand more of it!

Latest In Green Creek

After our visitors made the afternoon on the way back, it was quiet again in Green Creek. Surrounded by gently drizzling rain, distant birdsong and the babbling of the brook, we thought about our unusual experience.

Life flows slowly, like the river in early summer. Elias is the whole day in the studio, where he carves and paints I talk to my garden plants when I'm not working in one of my leather projects. The fresh vegetables, eggs and cheese that we bought a few weeks ago, tend to a close. We are still waiting for the conclusion of a contract relating to a summer job before we make our way to Dawson City to shop. Currently, we enjoy what nature has to offer us in plants. Topping the list: Fireweed (dt forest fireweed) in salad vegetables and pans.
