Young Elk Fawn with a strong will to live has found new home!
Artie moved yesterday to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve (a wild animal park, animal in the wild animals are kept and if possible, released back into nature). Although we are sad that he's gone, but glad we could help him survive the first 35 hours separated from his mother. Now he is in a place where he gets what he needs as a wild animal (nutrient-rich milk as a start) in an environment that is fair to him as a wild animal.
After we therefore contacted the local game warden and said wild animal park, the case quickly gained momentum and we brought the little guy yesterday on the road (40 km upstream) where he was picked up by the local game warden and taken to White Horse. I was totally amazed at how much enthusiasm and willingness to have the people involved. That brought me to the conclusion that there is still hope for humanity (if I have ever sounded as if I did not believe it, I apologize!)
